Using the Panda Letter Matching Clip Cards
Prepping the activity takes just a few minutes. Begin by printing the full set of panda cards. The top of each card features a charming panda holding an uppercase letter. At the bottom of each card, you’ll find a set of lowercase letters for matching.
The cards print four to a page, so you will need to use scissors to cut them apart. You can stack several pages together to speed up this step. After cutting, the cards are ready to use.
If you’re planning to use the cards multiple times or with a larger group, laminating them is a great idea for added durability, but it’s totally optional.
Personally, I like to skip lamination to keep things more eco-friendly. If the cards get worn out, I just reprint them in a new fun theme. It helps to keep the activity feeling fresh.
Once the cards are ready to use, shuffle them and place them in a pile. If you’re working with more than one student, spread them out on the table or separate them into multiple piles so everyone can reach.
Be sure to also give each student their own little pile of clips. Then, have all the students pick a card and name the uppercase letter shown.
Next, they will scan the bottom of the card and identify the matching lowercase letter by marking it with a clip.
To stretch their skills, encourage them to say the letter sound aloud as they match. For vowels, prompt them to try both short and long sounds.
Once your learners are comfortable with the game, it becomes a great activity for independent practice, literacy centers, or even partner activities where kids can help each other out.

Adapting for All Learners
These panda clip cards are easy to differentiate and adapt. The PDF comes with 2 difficulty levels. For kiddos that need to start slow, there is a set with just two answer choices across the bottom.
For students who are ready for more of a challenge, you can use the set with 3 lowercase letter choices.
If pinching clips is difficult for any of your students due to fine motor struggles, laminate the cards and offer dot markers or bingo daubers for marking instead. These alternatives still offer a hands-on experience without requiring pinching movements.

Just snip the lowercase letters off the bottom of each card. Then, hide the uppercase panda cards around the room. Give each child one lowercase letter and challenge them to hunt down the uppercase match.
